I grew up with this famous serial during the 70s and the main theme is a fine example of recognisable TV-themes.

Of course the Cartwrights were my heroes as a young boy. Meanwhile I have a more critical view on the golden age of the cowboys. The clean image was destroyed by articles about massacres against the native americans for an example the massacre at wounded knee.

Therefore I want to uncover a bit the dark side of the Cowboy-myth with this cover-song. In my version the theme is modified three times to become more weird every time.
It starts like the usual cover. In the second verse I convert the theme from major to minor. Second I enter the chorus with halftime and derive some crazy Jazz-chords from the chorus. Third, when the main theme comes back, I have set the melody in F sharp major against the basic G major, a method called Bi-Tonality often used by Charles Ives, a famous american composer. In the last verse you can enjoy the theme again as clear as in the beginning.
I have also experimented with new recording techniques. For the rhythm-guitar I created a Bi-Amp Set-up in Amplitude. On the left side is a Marshall, on the right side a Solano, both driven by a single guitar. The trumpet is realised with a sample-instrument of „Samplemodeling“, a very innovative company, which combines sampling and physical modeling to achieve unheard realism.
